Our Story
Our creativity does not have to stand still.
I’m Mo — a Sufi, a father, and someone who loves Meher Baba.
I love the photographs, books, paintings, songs and stories that generations of Baba lovers have given us. They are part of what brought me here.
Meher Gear is not an attempt to replace any of that.
It is an invitation to keep creating.
It started with a little Baba figure.
One day, while playing with LEGO bricks with my daughter, I told my wife:
“I wish there was a Baba LEGO.”
So she made me one.
That was it.
No business plan.
No grand mission.
No merchandise company.
Just a small, loving thing my wife made because she knew it would make me happy.
But I kept thinking about it.
I had often struggled to find Baba-related things that felt like me — a shirt I would actually wear, music I might play in the car, a funny little object for my desk, or something my daughter might enjoy.
I’m Gen X. And I started wondering what someone younger might be looking for too.
That little figure opened a much bigger question:
What else could we make?
What could we wear?
What could we build?
What could we write, paint, photograph, sing, design, code, share — or simply laugh about together?
And eventually that became:
LOVE BABA? MAKE SOMETHING.
That sentence became the heart of Meher Gear.
Not because everybody should make a T-shirt. Because creativity can take almost any form.
Quite the opposite.
Paint something.
Write something.
Sing something.
Build something.
Photograph something.
Design something.
Make something strange.
Make us laugh.
Make us think.
Make something nobody has thought of yet.
MORE THAN BABA’S FACE ON THINGS
For me, this project is also about helping people encounter Baba's words and message with care.
When something is a real quotation, we should source it.
When something is our interpretation, we should say so.
And when something is simply a joke inspired by Baba, we definitely shouldn't put words in his mouth.
A design might start a conversation.
A song might move somebody.
A ridiculous little collectible might simply make someone smile and remember him.
That can be enough.
MORE THAN A SHOP
The shirts are one place to begin.
Meher Gear is meant to grow into a creative home for Baba-inspired work from many people — artists, musicians, writers, photographers, makers, researchers, designers, coders, and people with an idea who have no idea where to begin.
That's why we created:
SHARE IT.
SHOW IT.
SELL IT.
Some work might be displayed.
Some might be shared freely.
Some might become products, with the creator's agreement.
The creator keeps ownership.
The door is open.
You don't need a following.
You don't need to belong to an organization.
You don't even need to call yourself an artist.
You just need an idea.
WHY MEHER GEAR EXISTS not as a spiritual authority, but as a personal creative project built with care.
When something is sold, the goal is to cover the work, compensate contributors fairly, and keep making things worth sharing.
Most importantly, I want this to feel like a person opening a creative door, not an institution telling anybody how spirituality is supposed to look.
Baba is timeless.
Our creativity does not have to stand still.
